How much should the man’s wedding band cost?

My fiance and I are planning a wedding for 2010 (I know it's a year away) & I'm searching for a wedding band for him. He is Irish, so I want to get him an Irish or Celtic wedding band. The only problem is I don't know on average how much should be spent on the man's ring. I don't want to spend only $50 or something, but I also don't want to spend too much. Any ideas?
